Trio will join all-star ensemble that includes Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Ashton Kutcher.
Sarah Jessica Parker is set to join New Line’s New Year’s Eve, while Halle Berry, fresh off her Golden Globe nomination for Frankie and Alice, and Zac Efron are in negotiations to also join the all-star cast.
The trio will join an ensemble that includes such names as Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Ashton Kutcher, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Lea Michele and Abigail Breslin, all of whom who are in various stages of negotiations for roles as well.
The movie tells intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through bittersweet drama and romance over the course of New Year’s Eve.
Parker is playing Breslin’s mom, someone who relies too much on her daughter for company.
If a deal makes, Berry will play a caterer who runs into a former flame. Efron is on track to play a bike messenger who ends up trying to fulfill Pfeiffer’s New Year’s Eve resolutions in exchange for tickets to a big party. The movie, being directed by Garry Marshall, was initially to shoot mid-December but is now eyeing a Feb. 1 start in New York. Second unit will be shot in Times Square over New Year’s.
Mike Karz and Wayne Rice are producing.
Parker (repped by CAA) starred in the Sex and the City movies for New Line, while Berry (CAA, Vincent Cirrincione Management) can be currently seen in the drama Frankie and Alice.
Efron (CAA, Alchemy Entertainment) is shooting The Lucky One in Louisiana.
‘I’m Incredibly Addicted To GOOP!’

Access Hollywood
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The stars of “Glee” are counting down the days until Gwyneth Paltrow returns to reprise her role as substitute teacher Holly Holiday on the FOX series — especially Golden Globe nominee Lea Michele, who admitted she’s a superfan of all things Gwynnie.
“I’m incredibly addicted to her website GOOP,” Lea told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos on Tuesday morning. “I look at it all the time.”
The 24-year-old actress and singing powerhouse, who plays “Glee” club standout Rachel Berry, said she visits Gwyneth’s advice-giving website (which is also a newsletter) for help.
“I just love like her recommendations and things like that,” Lea revealed.
Gwyneth filmed her first guest spot on “Glee” earlier this fall (and as she told Access over the weekend, will be doing another episode with the kids of McKinley High School) and Lea told Maria that the Oscar winner left a big impression in more ways than just through her acting.
“She wrote me the loveliest note before she left,” Lea said. “She’s just so sweet and I can’t wait to have her back.”
In the meantime, Lea has been filming a host of “Glee” episodes for when the show returns to FOX in 2011 including one that will see her in a football uniform.
“I have been spending the past couple of nights on the football field. I feel like I’m doing a social experiment of what it’s like to spend so much time with boys,” she laughed. “Being on the football field with Cory [Monteith], Harry [Shum Jr.], Mark [Salling] and Chord [Overstreet], and getting to spend time with them like that and be like, in the huddle, with the boys, it’s been such a learning experience for me about guys.”
Lea said it’s been a giggle seeing “just how they behave in that macho environment.”
“They kept pulling me by my helmet and like, swinging me around,” she laughed.
