Jane Lynch continues to make green improvements on her home.

“We’re doing LED lighting, which is more expensive but saves us in the end. We’re doing a roof that looks like metal but is made from recycled material and is very fire retardant,” says the Golden Globe winner, who returned in the first new “Glee” episode of the New Year after the Super Bowl Sunday.

The aptly football-centric installment featured a big production number remake of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” a Katie Couric cameo, and covers of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” and Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills.” Lynch’s cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester will sing with the glee club kids in an upcoming episode. She’s also writing a memoir for Hyperion/Voice to be published next September.

“They say being vegan is the best thing you can do for the environment,” says Lea Michele, who eliminated animal products from her diet a year ago.

On “Glee,” her character Rachel is “single again, striving for her career,” since her breakup with Finn (Cory Monteith), She’s looking forward to seeing more of her and other students’ lives outside McKinley High.

“I think it’s really important that we enter the homes of these kids. What does Mercedes’ family look like? What does Tina’s family look like? Rachel’s dads? What is it like living in Ohio with two gay fathers? I want to get to know what these kids are like when they leave school,” she explains.

She “has begun recording sessions for the animated movie ‘Dorothy of Oz,’ and will take part in a Glee” European concert tour this summer.

When it comes to recycling, “I’m super annoying,” says Darren Criss. “I’m the kind of guy that if there’s no recycling bins around I hoard plastic bottles, put them in my bag and I bring them home. If I can afford it I want to put solar panels in.”

New to “Glee” this season as Blaine, the out-and-proud love interest for Kurt (Chris Colfer), Criss has quickly become a fan favorite.

“There are a lot of things that inspire me about him. He’s a very strong, confident young man and it’s been very empowering to play him. The fact that it’s a hit show and people have been positively responsive is just a bonus,” he says. “I feel privileged for so many reasons.”

Ryan Murphy on Lea

I found this great quote on the Hollywood Reporter site where Ryan Murphy the creator of Glee talks about Lea:

“I think she’s incredibly rare. Lea can do anything — she’s a very good actress, a great singer, she can do it all.”
